No doubt Steve's thoughts reflect the sentiments of the majority of the population of this country. For good reason -- if we opened this country to all comers, our standard of living (as measured by TV's, cars, and $$) would drop considerably. Perhaps even as low as in most `third world' nations. We might all end up riding bicycles and eating vegetables! Each and every one of us has big bucks at stake here. The status quo is our rightful inheritance, and we must be prepared to protect it! Our forefathers cut out the finest share of the world's soil so that *we* might enjoy it. They schemed for centuries to give us technological and economic leverage over the rest of this world.
