I must admit to having a few speeding tickets (3am on an expressway between major cities). I lived for the past 12 years in Virginia, Norfolk to be exact. My rates were about $200 a year. for the entire 12 year period. Part of that was for a '68 opel cadette and the remainder for a '69 Malibu(350). I then moved to >>New Jersey<<. my rates doubled, and then with recent 'rate changes' it has gone up another 100, to about $500/year. I then purchased a new '82 Z28. My insurance for that was $600 a year. Comparing that to the malibu, I felt I was doing great. Then 'rate adjustments' brought my insurance up to $700+. >>> MY FLAME <<< Why the HELL do I have to pay so much for insurance, when my driving record is so clean? There are many other drivers on the road who have had repeated accident/claims who are not paying that much more than myself. It is my understanding, that New Jersey went to 'no fault' insurance so that insurance premiums didn't have to be so high. For WHOM??? Those that weren't able to get insurance because of their bad driving records? If they are that bad at driving, either get them off the road, or MAKE THEM PAY their own way through the insurance jungle. Also, it is my understanding (I may very well be corrected in this section), that when New Jersey went to 'government regulated', "no fault" insurance, that rates have been going up ever since, faster than in states without the 'no-fault' system. My feeling is that because the government has it's hands, so much, into the insurance system, that the insurance companies are 'using' and 'guiding' the system to charge so much. What ever happened to the free-enterprise system? If insurance companies knew that you could go somewhere else and get insurance for a few bucks less, they would be less likely to raise your rates.
