I DO think that all the anecdotal evidence that's been bandied around is NOTHING BUT a deliberate attempt to use emotion to sway others' opinions. The "bow and arrow" article was an attempt to show just what such an argument looks like when one doesn't agree with any of the premises that the anecdote is supposed to demonstrate. It's interesting that this net seems to take people literally ONLY when they're being subtle, and vice versa.
