I like cats, but I think that Garfield represents the most over-commericalized comic strip which has ever been created (possibly even rivialing Peanuts). Additionally, it is almost always so cute and sweet to the point of causing insulin shock in the average thinking reader. The insipid relations, re-hashed jokes and over used story lines illustrate the fact that the person who wrote it had two weeks of material and decided to stretch it into a continuing strip. Fortunetly, it seems to be mainly favored by that faction of the earths population who thought that "dealy-boppers" were "really neat" and didn't catch on that the song "valley girls" was a satirical jab at their culture, heritage and spending habits. dirk "toast that sucker" grunwald
