There are an awful lot of them around. The dangerous cars are the ones that speed up to pass a bike, then cut in front of said bike to make a right turn (no turn signal, of course) at an intersection with no stop sign or light. There aren't that many of these around, just enough to make bike riders real paranoid about cars. Oddly enough, the two hazard groups never seem to meet each other... Then there's the battle between people who follow the letter of the law (absolutely everything must come to a full stop at every stop sign) and people who understand and follow the spirit of a law (the whole idea of a stop sign is to prevent accidents, and if there's no traffic in sight, why stop?). I suppose it depends on how much intelligence you credit the average citizen with. Wombat ihnp4!uiucdcs!uicsl!wombat
