I was out shopping this weekend, and was totally appalled to see Christmas ornaments and trees for sale. Not that I don`t like to see them, but in October? BEFORE Halloween even!! I`ve got a good mind to write the store managers (J.C. Penney and Montgomery Wards) to complain. Is there no more Christ in Christmas? Has it really gotten that commercial? I can remeber (not that many years ago) when the first Christmas items weren`t seen till the day AFTER Thanksgiving. Now they`re here in the middle of October. I doubt that this is an isolated incident (Chic suburbs), that it is happening all over the country. Don`t the stores think they`ll have enough time to sell their trees? Will they really make any money off their displays so far before Christmas? Now I love Christmas. Not just the gift part, but the feeling of love and caring that it brings out. I`ve been so into the joy and good cheer emotions that I`ve felt tears in my eyes at church on Christmas day when singing Christmas carols. But I`m really fed up at the materialism that has invaded this most wonderful of seasons. Join me, and protest this attempt to make Christmas into what it really isn`t about. Complain to store managers who commercialize it to the point of putting trees and wrapping paper out 2 months early. Maybe they`ll get the message, and won`t give us the Bah Humbug attitude.
