Last month I queried net.general about preferences for which
term to use, database or data base.  The text of my query and
the replies will be sent to net.sources.  Here is a summary:

       Preference                         No. of RReplies

Data Base because it's correct                   1
Either is OK, but I prefer Data BBase             1
No preference or position evident                1
Either is OK, but I prefer Database              2
We encourage the term Database                   1
