It was one of these full-screen editors that was normally in "type-over" mode (like IBM's SPF) as opposed to vi's command-oriented approach at changing test. 2ded's big advantage over vi was it understanding of boxes. It had commands for moving, changing and creating a section of its buffer area with one command. I used it primarily for creating input files for a filter called gc; gc simply took "typewriter" art and smoothed out the bumps and breaks in it so that nroff could output it on a Xerox 9700. It was handy for creating little diagrams for memos and documents, but it wasn't a true graphics editor. Maybe some of the wizards Bell has stashed at the Holmdel or Murray Hill facility can help. Wishing you luck, Jim Gagnon @ MITRE.
