With respect to the future of Commodore International Inc.:

The latest information I have received states (not direct quote):

Commodore has acquired a licence from Zilog to manufacture the
Z8000. Licences for use of CPM 86, MS-DOS and a number of other
items in the same general category (16 bit software) have been
obtained from the appropriate people.

This seems to back up the recent rumor of m/cs based on the Z8000.
We may not see them soon but I expect something will be forthcoming.

Another interesting item is that they have started production of 
64K rams (volume prodn expected by the end of the fiscal year), since
they appear to be unreasonably priced on the open market.
