  Before using hub rings on your diskettes, you may
  want to check with the drive manufacturer to see
  what media the manufacturer recommends for the
  drive and the expected life of that media.

  In a recent encounter with a shugart 8" drive, hub
  rings caused alignment/wear problems and *voided* the
  warranty on the drive.
