Western Electric may not *rate* movies -- but they sure were
involved in the MAKING of enough big (and little) features
back in the "old" days of Hollywood.  Have you ever noticed
how many "old" films credit the sound recorded by the
"Western Electric Sound System"?  Yep, same Western Electric.  
I think that the "official" name for their movie sound
recording system was "Westrex" or something similiar.
