We use bacon grease. Amount depends on dog size. We use about one tablespoon a day for 25 pounders, but they have thick coats. Build up to full dosage. It works well for our kids (you tell them they're not people), even better than the commercial stuff. Be sure to mix vegetable and animal, whatever you use.
