Berkeley Lines: 9 Actually, when a Hydrogen atom is created, I believe there is a small loss of mass. Consider a free electon and a proton. If the electron becomes bound by the proton then a photon is emmited. The energy of the photon corrosponds to the loss of mass of the proton-electron system. steve procter
