HOMECOMING QUEENS Toothsome women With careful coiffures (or studied dishevelment) Smile from insistent posters. They hope I will notice the sweet regular features the sweet undulating bodies. But I see the angry dying faces the empty dying faces the empty dead faces (the unshed tears in the eyes tell the story and the pained tension pulling the smiles just slightly awry) They mourn at their own funerals (so young!) they feel the death of their thinking their loving their caring their mattering their humanity. only their sweet undulating bodies remain, which only dead men can enjoy.... Corpses are the campus elite, unnecessary corpses (I join their mourning, but...) You are still young! You can turn around and live! You can give the world not just the beauty of your bodies but the beauty of your spirits (yes, you too can love) You can be loved and wanted not just by men's bodies but by men. Let the pattern of clouds and colors in your souls be the sunrise of your life, the start of a limitless day, not the sunset, the beginning of an endless, inescapable night. Please come be human.... -- Jeff Sargent/pur-ee!pucc-h:aeq
