Center, Univ. of Texas at Austin Lines: 7 People are talking about jib roller furling as if it were roller reefing. The roller mechanisms on jibs are there to make the sail easy to store. If you try to use it to reef your jib, you will ruin the boat's performance and probably ruin the jib. I think Hood now has a setup that claims to be real roller reefing. I think I saw an ad in Yacht Racing/Cruising.
