At this rate, EC will have to coming out with Taking Liberties, Vol. II. Note that CBS has for American release ``Everyday I Write the Book,'' with two non-LP trax on the flip. The A-side is extended, and also has an instrumental. It was engineered by famed New York mixmaster John ``Jellybean'' Benitez, who has also mutated singles by the T-Heads, Planet Patrol, Afrika Bambaata, and New Order. His remixes tend to be more interesting (shorter, too) than the ``generic'' ones usually found on 12-inch singles. Most extended versions tend to go on MUCH TOO LONG and don't bother to alter the instrumental balance or highlight the ``hooks.'' Another ``remixer'' worth looking for is Francios Kevorkian, who made ``Situation'' by Yaz sound better than the original (actually, it's shorter that the original !) LP version. He also did ``Two Hearts'' and ``New Year's Day'' by U2 on a British Island 12" disk. ``Bob''-- ``Bob'' Robert P. Krajewski ARPA: RpK@MC MIT Local: RpK@OZ UUCP: ...!genradbo!mit-eddie!mitvax!rpk
