Truly a touching story, ... I cried when I read it (of course, my boss had just walked into my room while I was reading it and that is why I cried, yust yolking). Actually Marshall, I don't mean to belittle you; thanks for posting such a heartwarming story. I, too, would like to offer a few cents worth (that is all the sense I have) to this discussion of developing interpersonal relationship, i.e. meeting the opposite sex (for most of us). Marshall says that he met his friend at a party. I think that this is the best way to meet people. Trying to start a relationship with friends that you work closely with or have classes with can be awkward and lead to a conflict of interest (I know what I'd be more interested in doing). Meeting people at bars is usually a lesson in futility. Too many false pretenses. I have heard and seen enough bullsh-t to provide a small third-world nation with the fertilizer needed to meet the country's 5-year Ag-plan. (or whatever). I confess that I have added to the pile from time to time. At a party, you can usually meet people in a more casual, unpretenious way. *Score* one for parties! Back too Marhall's story. He seems to suffer from what is commonly referred to as Nice Guy Syndrom. Every one says that nice guys finish last. Wrong!! To finish last, you have to be in the race. Nice guys are not even in the race. They are usually on the sidelines as spectators, twiddling their thumbs (among other things). Marshall, you said she spurned your offer to go out as boyfriend/girlfriend and then later she did not take any initiative herself. So why didn't you try, try again? "Perhaps it was never meant to be?" is a Numero Uno Coppo Outto. How much does it cost to fly from Newark to Atlanta? Peanuts!!!! (sorry about that Georgians) Especially since you have a nice BTL salary. Or, you could always fly her up to see Joisey,... then again.... Moral of the story?... I don't know, I'm usually short on morals (just kidding, in no way am I short.... on morals). Signed, Abbey Van Hamilton (Pat Hamilton, BTL, HO 2K-434, x0280, houxi!hammy) P.S. Advertising over the net for a date seems pretty *bush*, but if you get too many responses to handle yourself,...
