I totally agree with your description of Howard Cosell.  He has
absolutely no class, or tact, or (in my opinion) much knowledge
of baseball.  And, he seems to stick his foot (along with the rest
of his leg up to his thigh) in his mouth consistently.

One example that has not been mentioned yet (I think) was in the
last game when (I can't remember who it was, but I think it was
Eddie Murray) checked a swing and the catcher appealed to the third
base umpire.  Well, the third base umpire said he swung, and it went
down as a strike.  Howard then immediately (before the instant replay)
said something (very arrogantly) to the effect "There's no way he swung.
The ump must be blind" (that was NOT a quote - but I don't remember his
actual words).  Well, they showed the instant replay, and it wasn't even
close.  The umpire at third made an excellent call.  (I'll admit I was
skeptical before the instant replay, but I have seen enough appealed
strikes to know not to always believe my eyes).  Howard flopped again.

Anyone else remember seeing this?  It really helped to emphasize my
opinion of the man (I use that term loosely).

p.s.	I was also disheartened to see Philadelphia fall.  But,
	I guess it's about time someone besides National League
	East division teams win the World Series.  (I think they
	have won the World Series something like 4 of the last 6
	years).  Anyone know exactly what the ratio is of NLE
	teams being world champs to the other 3 divisions in the
	past few years?  I would be interested in knowing (since
	I am a Cardinal fan)

p.p.s.	any interest for a net.anti-cosell group?  The only problem
	is that we could never handle THAT many letters . . .
	A lot of machines would run out of disk space quickly...
