     The MOTAS and I are thinking of driving a car from San Francisco Bay area
to the St. Paul/Minneapolis area of Minnesota in mid/late December and staying
for ~3 weeks.  Does anyone out there have any {constructive} info/pointers to
info on what to avoid, what to take along, etc?

     We are thinking of going through Nevada on I-80 through to Iowa or Missouri
(don't have a map with me), or taking alternate routes if the weather is too
bad.  I grew up in the target location so I know pretty much what to expect, but
would appreciate info on good routes, avoiding pitfalls, etc.
