UTS is a timesharing system currently based on UNIX ((tm) added by me) Version 7 with modifications to allow it to run on machines of the IBM System/370 architecture. It includes support for IBM I/O devices, including 3270 terminals, as well as enhancements for operation on a large mainframe. It runs in a virtual machine under VM/370 or VM/SP. Work is currently being done on a System V version, which is expected to be available early in 1984. We are also working on a native version (one which would run standalone rather than under VM), and that version is expected to be available around mid 1984. Randolph J.
