AT&T-C's new 56-kbit/s, switched, all-digital service will be offered early in 1984. Called Circuit Switched Digital Capability, or CSDC, the new facility will use the same two-wire local loops and exchanges as dial telephones. CSDC requires some new customer premises equipment, and minor modifications to local offices. Tariffs will be filed with the NJ PUC by the end of the year, and later, with the FCC. AT&T-C has not as yet announced pricing and market plans.
