In order to use the word "learn" as I and, I think, most people use the word, the object--the thing you are "learning"--should have some resemblance to the truth or the facts or the way things are. You can be told a lie but I doubt that you can *learn* a lie. You can learn that certain people or publications (in this case) are liars--but I don't need to read the Militant to discover that.
