I thought the problem of fluorocarbons was not that they initially
destroyed so much ozone, but that they stayed around and continued to
destroy ozone FOREVER. So a little bit could do a lot of damage - and
it doesn't take a large increase in ultraviolet exposure to cause a
deadly increase in skin cancer, etc.
