carl: when your hand connects with my nose, all I get is a bloody nose, and
I can recover from that. When the bullet from your gun connects with my nose,
I get a 2x2 empty space that used to contain my face. I can't recover from
that.
   Thus, the actions are not comparable. Equating use of a handgun to use of
a fist is just not reasonable.
