You call "Kudzu" "reasonably intelligent"??? What I'd like to do to Kudzu Dubose: 1. Tie his spindly arms and legs behind his back, 2. Throttle that airhead Veronica Tadsworth with him, 3. Shove his stupid mother's whining head farther into her shoulder blades, maybe with that idiotic parrot, 4. Use several shredded bushels of the comic strips featuring him to make papier mache to encapsulate Doug Marlette to keep him from writing any more. I am an avid lover of the daily comics page, eagerly devouring each one, but Kudzu was the first one I found myself NOT reading because it was so incredibly, unbelievably, unrelievedly AWFUL. Some comic strips are bad. Some are so bad they're good. Mutt and Jeff (the current one; I understand the original was pretty good) was the first strip that demonstrated to me that it was possible to be even worse than that, but it was still interesting to read just to see how bad it was. (Nancy falls in the Mutt and Jeff category. I haven't had the pleasure of reading Dondi.) Kudzu sets a new low. It has absolutely no redeeming social value. The same tired jokes, that weren't funny the first time, are repeated over, and over, and over again. At least the same ones were being used when I stopped reading it, which I have to admit was a couple of years ago. Maybe Doug has thought of one or two new ones by now. Steve Summit tektronix!tekmdp!stevesu P.S. Thanks eversomuch for a new topic. net.flame has been getting entirely too serious lately. All of this reasoned political debate belongs in net.politics where I won't see it. I just want some nice, irresponsible, outrageous FLAMES. I haven't had the chance to submit one for a while. Thanks again for the opportunity.
