HOLD IT!! HOLD IT JUST A #&%*$# MINNIT!!

Ahem.  It seems that another poor unfortunate member of this country's 
ruling class has made an unfortunate and quite regrettable mistake.

THE CIVIL WAR WAS NOT FOUGHT TO "FREE THE BLACKS"!!
Did you read that loud and clear?  First, the American Civil war was fought
to re-unite the Union.  Mr. Lincoln did not write the Emancipation Proclamation
to win the love and respect of black slaves-  he did it to weaken the war
effort of the Confederacy.  He said that if he could reunite the nation without
freeing the slaves he would, if he could reunite the nation with freeing the 
slaves, he would.  *His paramount concern was the reunification of the United
States!!!!!*
And, as far as the fight for civil rights is concerned, let me remind you that
the advent of so-called civil rights for blacks in this country was fought 
bitterly by the bigots, and was a worrying issue to the so-called liberals-
("you're trying to move to far too fast...").  And, today, many people who
are members of the ruling class (face it, people, this country is run by
the white males, and to a lesser extent(MUCH lesser, according to Steinem
& co. :-)) white females) are worrying that what is rightfully theirs is 
being taken away (I'm sure many of you remember the civil-rights/Affirmative
Action arguments) and given to "less qualified" blacks.  "I didn't have
anything to do with it-  I wasn't even around when all that slavery stuff
was going on.  Why should I have to pay the penalty??" 

Sound familiar?   Well let me ask you, why is it that the unemployment rate
for black people remains somewhere around twice that of whites?  And why is
it that well over half of the people languishing in jails in this country
are black, while the population of the U.S. as a whole is less than 15%
black??  Are you going to suggest that this is *not* a racist society??
Do you feel that it is morally and ethically correct to enjoy the benefits
of what has essentially remained a nonegalitarian racist society?  
For most of it's history, the society of this nation has differed with that
of South Africa only by degrees.  Is that the sort of "free society" that
you prefer?

Speaking of the Republic of South Africa, did you know that RR referred to 
them as "valued allies"??? 

And you think I'm paranoid???  Sheesh.
