That reminds of when I worked at CDC and used the old SCOPE
Operating System. The line printers all expected FORTRAN style
carriage control to be present in your file.
So, if you wanted to print something that was not in this
format, you had to copy it to another file using a special command
that placed a blank at the beginning of each line and then print
the new file.

Every now and then someone would forget this procedure and would
be very embarassed to receive an x hundred page printout with
one line at the top of each page. (For some reason the printer
would interpret every non blank character in the first column
as a page eject.)
