But the most interesting example I saw was when I lived in Lebanon, and spent one period living in the heart of the American ghetto there. Among the younger folk, the locals were referred to as "Lebs"... obvious but indicative. And I have to confess that despite acquiring enough Arabic to play cards and get around, I never did find out what they called us.
