Dorothy Parker was a quick-witted socialite/author living (I believe) in
New York around the 1930-1940's.  She is the author of several books and
(I think) wrote a regular column for one of the New York papers.
She was a marvelous critic and social commentator of the time.  If anyone
knows the names of her books, please send them this way or post them.

Probably her most famous quote concerns Katherine Hepburn, a budding movie
actress of the time, who "ran the emotional gamut from A to B.", according
to Ms. Parker.
