The Commodore 1541 (and 1540) 5 1/4 drive does not use the hole in
the floppy for anything, there is a place in the drive for a
sensor, but it's empty.  So to use the other side of a SS floppy,
you need only make the write protect notch.  However, some people
do warn about the effects of spinning the disk the wrong way ....
