Canon (FD) lenses *are* quite expensive, but I have gotten just as good results with work-alike brands (eg Vivitar, Tokina). My default lens (on my A1) is a Tokina 35-70 MacroZoom, and I rarely replace it with an 80-200 macro (unless I'm too far). Unless you are very picky at enlargement time, a 2X teleconverter on your "normal" lens will do the job of a telephoto (and get you twice as much macro, to boot!). -- Theodore Hope School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA CSNet: Hope @ GaTech ARPA: Hope.GaTech @ CSNet-Relay uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,rlgvax,sb1,unmvax,ut-ngp,ut-sally}!gatech!Hope
