I have had the opportunity to visit most of the ski areas in
Colorado and New Mexico, and of all of them, my favorite has
got to be Steamboat Springs.  It is a very large area, quite
a few runs of all three colors.  The skiing is patently 
excellent, but the thing that stands out most in my memory is
the people--all of them, from the lift operators to the skiers
to the locals.  Everyone is friendly!  I have always come away
with a very good feeling for the people.

All you Vail fans who like BIG mountains but are tired of the
jet-set hype should try Steamboat.  It is not so crowded 
usually, because it is a rather long trip for Texans and 
Oklahomans.  Also, the town (Steamboat Springs) offers many
outstanding restaurants and night spots.  I seem to remember 
reading a brochure that went something like this:

	 More snow than Snowmass
	 More powder than Vail
	 More sun than Aspen
	 More bars than Utah
