Wallis said he used other wood finishes because he could not find Deft locally (Naperville, IL). It can be purchased (at least a year ago it could) at the E.G. Home Center on Ogen Ave. in Downers Grove. My cans are priced at $7.30 per quart or $21 per gallon - but those were sale prices if I remember correctly. I have been very happy using Deft on furniture, wood bathroom fixtures, etc. To get a really smooth finish, be sure to sand lightly between coats with extra fine sandpaper (but then that's what the instructions say -- amazing how that works).
