   Funny thing about Howard Cosell. We all agree that he is obnoxious, but he
is also fairly knowledgeable about the game, and not afraid to make an unflat-
tering comment about a player, like "Well, Frank, he just plain dropped that
ball, it was right in his hands". ABC's surveys and stats show that Howard
Cosell increases ratings, whatever we may personally think of him. He is 
quite literally the man people love to hate!
