Berkeley has indicated a desire to get back to research instead of
a tape distribution operation.  You will please note that they are
not operating as a software "company"; several commercial vendors
are now or in the near future distributing 4.?BSD-based systems.
Such vendors are in a position to offer customer support whereas
UCB is not.

You will probably hear some "official" word from UCB on this if I
have misrepresented their position.
