The consensus of replies was that the KEF 105.2 is THE speaker to have. I discussed this is with a long-lost friend recently, a real speaker buff; it turned out he already HAD 105.2s. However, he says they`re a bit large (about a 17" X 17" footprint each) and said that in limited spaces two KEF 103s plus a sub-woofer might be acceptable. He mentioned a powered sub-woofer from a company in L.A.; the name began with "A" but he couldn`t remember it exactly. So here`s a question on sub-woofers: Which one is the best? Why are powered subwoofers made with amplifiers of as little as 30W? I would have thought that much more (100W at least) would be desirable; is the 30W a marketer`s decision? How are they connected in relation to the regular speakers and the amplifier? How critical is room placement, and is this a function of the brand of subwoofer? Incidentally my friend has a Carver amplifier and a Sony CDP101 CD player, which, like mine, has been trouble-free over the six months he`s had it. Incidentally also, how much can be saved by ordering KEF 105 or 103 from England? Jeff
