I have seen two of the new chart samples: an LA TCA, and a WAC of northern California (GC-18, or some such), displayed at our Flying Club (West Valley, at Palo Alto, for those in the SF Bay Area). In addition to the charts were copies of a form for comments, to be forwarded to the FAA (FAA asked for rating [essentially 1-5, lousy-great] of various specific aspects of the chart, as well as providing an "essay section"). Rather than bias those who haven't seen the charts yet, I'll simply state that there are numerous significant changes. My understanding, based on comments from GADO officials, is that the changes are proposed, NOT final, and the FAA is soliciting comments. Perhaps a general discussion (thereby, of course, biasing those who haven't seen the charts yet -- oh, well) is in order, with comments forwarded to FAA? I'd be happy to collect the comments and forward them, if there's interest (I'll be at Comdex all week, though...). Alan M.
