Morlocks transformed that dead girl's body they found to look like Kitty,
and then threw it off the Baxter building after kidnapping Kitty.
   Peter will, of course, be reverted to normal form by some advanced 
scientific device.
   Of course, it may take a while for these things to become known, or
to happen.
