Bishop and Castro had been personal friends. Why didn't Castro beef up the contingent of 789 (not 1100, as US intelligence told us early in the invasion) Cubans as per the Grenadan govt's request? Castro had much more reason to despise the military coup than US officials, who found it a convenient excuse to invade Grenada. The invasion was practiced on a small island off of Puerto Rico in *1981*. Grenada was code named Amber, and the modus operandi of that operation was nearly identical to the actual course of events militarily. Nicaragua is next. During the hubbub of last week, the Reagan administration rejected the Nicaraguan proposal of a non-aggression pact between Honduras, the US, and Nicaragua. See Nov. 1 *Christian Science Monitor* p. 11. We are financing terrorist attacks on the Nicaraguan people. Exxon has stopped fuel shipments to Nicaragua because bombs which we have financed make the harbors dangerous places to be. The Samocista leaders have publically stated that they intend to step up attacks, take a small piece of Nicaragua, set up a provisional rightist govt as the legitimate one, and call on outside forces (us) to "liberate" the country. Our tax dollars are financing TERROR, which has much similarity to Soviet inspired terror. I have hope that the people of this country will come around and stop what is going on, but it is very difficult in a system where democracy consists of voting once or twice every year and writing to your Congressman. I plead with you all to read as much as you can about Nicaragua, and do everything you can to stop the destruction we are dealing to its people. Don't just rant about the Soviet govt, rant about both them and us! Thanx, from the concerned keyboard of Jeff Myers
