In some moment of strange mental aberration, I posted an article in which I said that CCCP was the Cyrillic form for the Russian Republic. As several people have kindly pointed out, it means the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or USSR. Russia is RSFSR (there is no Roman letter shape for the F, so I can't type it as if it were Cyrillic), and is one of the Republics in the Union. My only explanation for the error is that at the end of a long day I was so astonished and annoyed at Plunkett's ignorant diatribe that this stupidity slipped out. Martin Taylor
