You brought up a point I had not considered, and it gives more reason for leaving the $$$.SUB capability in. The advantage to using named dirs under ZCPR2 instead of a simple implementation for just CD is that ALL of the major ZCPR2 utilities know about them. You can say things like XDIR ROOT:, ERASE MYDIR:*.BAK, etc. Even VFILER knows about them and how to use them. Rick
