A 10,000 foot runway is not unreasonable for a large commercial
airport.  Newark has 9500 feet, Kennedy has more than 14,000.
Even Stewart Airport up in Newburgh has 11,500.  For smaller fry,
Teterboro has 7,000 and Morristown has 6,000.
