San Diego, Chemistry Dept. Administration Lines: 13 Well the Gang was back and as good as ever. They played about an hour and a half Monday night at the El Cortez in downtown San Diego. They played many of my favorites, Paralyzed, What We All Want, To Hell with Poverty (we'll get drunk on cheap wine), Man in a Uniform, and History of the World. A surprising addition to their encore was Lou Reed's Sweet Jane. The crowd seemed unfamiliar with their music. I was the only person yelling for a cheeseburger to go! That, by the way, was one song they deleted from Monday's playlist. They played plenty of their new material including their MTV hit(?) Is It Love. I think this is a strong band. If the Gang of Four comes to your town don't miss them! Denise O'Jibway - La Jolla - California
