Astrophysics Lines: 10 I think you misunderstood the question. The trick involving mitochondrial DNA depends on the supposition that this DNA is inherited entirely from the female ancestor. Likewise I am supposing that the Y chromosome is inherited entirely from the male ancestor. I need a biologist to tell me if this is really a valid supposition.
