   I would say that your PAMS system may work for some, but not for everyone. In
fact, if taken out of context, it could be a description of USENET. True, the
orientation is different, but the concept is the same. If you narrow it down to
net.singles, you could say that one of the original functions of net.singles was
to "allow single people to meet each other without actually knowing each other",
a paraphrase of the original article. Unfortunately, people tend to communicate
much differently via electronic mail (and news) than in person. Several times, 
I have begun regular correspondence with a woman who replied to something I
submitted to net.singles, and twice it actually led to meetings and dates. 
However, in one case it seemed as though she were disappointed after meeting me,
and the second time the reverse was true. The whole point of this is: such 
things sound great on the surface, but be wary of the pitfalls and possible
false impressions created by a (relatively) narrow-bandwidth communications
medium such as electronic mail and news. 
  If either of the anonymous ladies in question reads this, no offense intended,
I'm just facing facts.
