The question is which stereotype do you have in mind here:

Stereotype 1:

  The single as the loner, going to parties, riding off into the
  sunset (probably with a different girl behind him on the saddle)
  Robert Redford type

or 

Stereotype 2:

  The lonely person going to his bachelor pad (read messy one room
  apartment)
