We were spending a lot of time together, and I was living on my own already. On January 20, we suddenly decided, "what are we waiting for?". We were also a little concerned about the escalation of a big wedding, where there's always someone who gets mad about the arrangements, and someone who gets mad because they weren't invited, etc. We were both in undergrad at the time, so we got married on February 12 and went away for Reading Week. We set up the wedding two weeks beforehand, told our parents one week beforehand, and told our guests (three or four friends we invited) two days beforehand. So it was a*small* wedding. But we had all the trappings - dress, tux, flowers, pictures (not professional), synagogue, rabbi, cantor. The number of people in attendance exceeded our tiny "guest list", since the wedding took place on a Sunday evening between Minchah and Maariv (afternoon and evening services). Since a minyan (quorum of ten men) was necessary for part of the procedure, we invited everyone who was there for services to "come upstairs for a wedding". In retrospect we're glad we avoided a big wedding and all the headaches.
