EECS Lines: 6 Murphy was the obvious choice, I believe, if you subscribe to the notion that the MVP is the player with the most RUNS CREATED, i.e. runs + rbi's - hr's (I'm omitting pitchers who didn't figure in the MVP running in the NL this year). If I remember the final stats right, Murphy was way ahead by this measure. In the AL it should be Ripken or Cooper.
