A rumour of sorts; the Symbolics sales rep has told us that there is
soon to be available (I believe Jan 84) a new version of the control
board and firmware that will fix many of the software flaws. It should
have an error detecting protocol and some sort of error reporting for
the async line. There are also supposed be new fonts; the one I heard
mentioned was a 10 point roman with reasonable spacing.

The cost: $2700. Sites with maintenance or warranty receive it at no
cost.
