The Advent has an FM only receiver, a (conservatively rated) 15 watt per channel amplifier, and tape and phono inputs. It has 2 stereo output channels. I believe the electronics of the Advent is perfectly adequate for a casual listener such as me. My understanding was that Advent went out of business about 2 years ago, and sold the rights to its speaker line to another company. But I didn't know anyone had rights to the receivers. As to the quality of the advent reciever, it is very clean. The fm tuner tends to drift a bit as it gets warm. The switches on the front panel feel rather inexpensive, and I don't know how reliable they are. (Then again, I've had the beast for 8 years with no trouble). However, I felt the unit was a very good deal for the $300 I paid for it in '77. I would reccomend it to any casual stereo listener, or to someone with not much money just starting to amass equipment. -deborah gronke bennett fortune!dsd!atd!avsdt:deborah ucbvax!atd!t:deborah
